Management and HR Training
We identified the need to develop our middle managers and to provide them with the skills and strategies that would help them to gain the best performance from their team members, in essence providing them with the tools to call on the softer skills that managers need to use when managing a diverse group of people.
Through discussions with Margaret Johnston of Newleaf Associates she pulled together a detailed brief for herself and produced a proposal for the design and delivery of a training programme comprising a series of 4 workshops.
Margaret’s delivery style was very positive and we felt the training had the desired impact. As a result we commissioned Margaret to deliver a further two series of courses, and indeed was happy to recommend her to my fellow HR colleagues within the site.

With the growth of our business and the increased demands on our managers and supervisors, we recognised the need to provide them with some formal management training. I invited Margaret Johnston (Newleaf Associates) to meet with me to outline our requirements and to explain the constraints on staff availability as some worked shifts. Margaret produced a detailed proposal which was passed to the target group for their input. After further consultation meetings Margaret designed a bespoke programme delivered as a series of half day workshops spread over several months and thus accommodating the shift patterns.
Each workshop focused on developing practical management skills and, where appropriate, Margaret incorporated our company HR procedures into the content. The training methods were varied and took account of different learning styles as well the levels of experience in the groups. Feedback from participants was very good overall and the training provided a foundation for good management practice.
Following the success of this programme, I asked Margaret to provide one to one coaching to boost the skills and confidence of a newly appointed supervisor. Again this work was carried out in a professional way and had the desired effect.

Customer Service Training

Trainer Training
We engaged Margaret Johnston of Newleaf Associates to design a series of bespoke Train the Trainer courses for our Co-ordinators within Catering & Cleaning Services. The main aims of the training were to build up their skills and confidence as job specific trainers and to expand their future training remit to meet wider organisational needs.
The course content was comprehensive and pitched at the right level with the emphasis on practical skills development. Margaret’s delivery style ensured that everyone was put at their ease and motivated to participate fully. Evaluations were very positive and a great deal of what was learnt has transferred into the workplace.
Margaret provided further Train the Trainer courses for employees in Environmental & Transportation Services. Again these were very well received.
